Lung Function Test ( PFT : Pulmonary Function Test ):
At The Chest Clinic, Basic PFT as well as Complete PFT with DLCO is done.
Pulmonary function test is a simple test by which measurement of Lung Capacity is carried out. It can help the doctor in diseases like Asthma, COPD ( chronic obstructive lung disease ), Smokers Lung, Lung Fibrosis.
In this test, the patient is asked to breathe into the equipment to get a graph and curve by which the lung functions are interpreted. After this, a Inhaler is used and the test is performed again.
DLCO is an advanced test whereby the ability of the Lung to take in Air and exhale out is measured. It is a very sensitive test to assess the lung function.
A 6 minute walk test is also performed at The Chest Clinic in patients who have breathing difficulty on walking.
During this test, the Oxygen in the blood is correlated with the breathing difficulty while walking and the change in the Oxygen and Heart Rate is noted.
